Thank You Vets. My US Army Days March 1981 to March 1984

I joined the US Army to get away from my parents. I was a punk then. I signed up, 11 days later gone!
Once they shaved my head (in basic) I wanted out. Back in 1981 they didn't let you quit or bail out. So in basic training I made a commitment to do my best and learned to contribute. In many ways I was Joe lifer. I won many awards, made rank quick, was counted on the get the job done.
I learned that flag is not free, it was Earned.
When it’s hung up high on that flag pole, I was and still am proud. Being a Veteran that served in Active service, you have this thing in common, your connected to another Vet. If you served during combat and fought, your ahead of us that served during peace time. You were called and came back your blessed. If you didn’t come back we are blessed because of you.
Here’s some pictures I pulled out on this Veteran’s day. Yes I guess I only took pictures when the beer was flying..lol But it is a proud chapter in my life. Many ways molded me to be a doer, and serve as my part in that flag of freedom. It also allowed me to go to a Veteran rehab in Bath NY for 13 months to get sober 15 years ago. That flag has done me right*******
Happy Veteran Day to the Vets, and if you're a combat Vet, let me lay in a mud puddle so you can walk on me so not to get wet, because it be a honor to serve you like that.
PS: I blew shit up in the Army. Demolition. So be nice about my nerd pics..:)
